Predator: Hunting Grounds Is Being Resurrected For PS5 And Xbox With New Content

IllFonic, the new publisher of Predator: Hunting Grounds, has announced that the 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer game will be coming to the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The publisher has also announced a year-long road map, which includes new playable predators.

The first update players can expect is the 2.49 patch, which will be released sometime in April. This update will focus on quality-of-life fixes, including balance changes, player movement, and more. Later in the year, Predator: Hunting Grounds will be ported to modern consoles. Both a standard and digital deluxe edition of the game will be offered, although there was no word on what will be included in the latter.

BAFTA has announced that UK gaming charity SpecialEffect will be presented with its prestigious Special Award at the 20th BAFTA Games Awards this April. SpecialEffect is a charity that uses technology to improve access to video games for people with physical disabilities.

SpecialEffect was started in 2007 as a collaboration between founder Mick Donegan, a specialist in assistive technology, and his son Bill, a gamer and product designer. Activision has announced more details on Call of Duty's upcoming Season 3 update, and among the new additions is a mode called "Minefield." In a blog post, Activision said fans can think of this like "multiplayer but with mines," and it sounds like things can get pretty chaotic.

Available for the Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint modes, Minefield employs those modes' rules but with one key change. Every time you kill an enemy, a proximity mine is plunged onto the ground where the enemy player died.

The mine is immovable and is deadly to all enemy players. Activision said as the match progresses, these mines will combine to create a literal minefield that can "ramp up the action to a cacophony of chaos." Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess Coming To Xbox Game Pass This Year

During its March 2024 Partner Preview, Xbox announced that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is launching for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC this year. The game will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Developed by Capcom, Path of the Goddess sees you play Soh, a masked warrior tasked with defending the villages around Mt. Kafuku. The game is divided into two different styles of play: Daytime and Nighttime. During the day, Soh must fight their way to trapped villagers and work to free them, recruiting additional fighters to the cause and creating more defenses for your home base. At night, Soh must rely on those defenses while fighting off hordes of enemy spirits. This adds an element of real-time strategy to what's otherwise an action-adventure game.

The Xbox Partner Preview showcased more of what this looks like in practice, including how battles against "Festering Seethe" will go. Festering Seethe are larger, tougher evil spirits that seem to act more like mini-boss battles, presenting opportunities for the action-adventure side of the game to really come into focus. Teenagers with precognitive abilities beware because a new Final Destination film has begun filming. Production for the Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema horror film, titled Final Destination: Bloodlines, kicked off this week and its targeted 2025 release window was confirmed by producer Craig Perry.

"After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can," Perry said on his Facebook account (via Bloody Disgusting). "2025 will mark the 25th-anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, Final Destination: Bloodlines is the sixth film in the series, with its last entry being Final Destination 5 in 2011. Dune 2 Actor Stellan Skarsgaard Refused CG For Pirates Films, Preferred Practical Effects Instead

Dune: Part Two is now out in cinemas--and scoring big at the box office--thanks in part to actor Stellan Skarsgaard putting in a scene-stealing performance as the villainous Vladimir Harkonnen. Skarsgaard is almost unrecognizable beneath the mountain of prosthetics used to give him an intimidating presence in the film, and it's not the first time the actor has sat for hours in a make-up chair as special effects artists work their craft on him, as back in the late 2000s, he portrayed the barnacle-infested Bootstrap Bill Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.

In an interview for the Dune sequel, Skarsgaard explained how even then, he preferred wearing prosthetics to help him with his performance as opposed to other actors who wore motion-capture suits and had tracking dots on their faces for post-production special effects work.

"I was the only one on set with real prosthetics on," Skarsgaard said to Business Insider. "Everyone else on that ship showed up five minutes before we started shooting and had dots put on their face, and away they went. I had been there for six hours. But the thing is, I like it. Dune: Part Two released in theaters this past weekend, and the movie wormed its way to a massive debut. In North America, the Dune sequel pulled in $81.5 million for the Friday-Sunday period of March 1-3, which was about double the money ($41 million) that the original film made back in 2021 for its opening weekend. Globally, Dune: Part II has so far earned $178.5 million.

The movie carried a reported budget of $190 million, and that doesn't count any promotion or marketing expenses. Deadline said about $100 million was spent to promote the film with advertisements and promotional campaigns, bringing the total reported cost of the film to $290 million or more. After its first weekend, Dune: Part II has made back about 65% of its costs, if the reports regarding the budget and marketing spend are indeed accurate.
