Hearthstone's next expansion, Perils in Paradise, is launching on July 23. And while the tropical-themed expansion is mostly about kicking back and relaxing on the beach, everybody knows that when you go on vacation, you should keep a close eye on your wallet. Multiple Assassin's Creed Remakes In The Works, Including Potentially Black Flag

There are multiple remakes of Assassin's Creed games currently in development, and Ubisoft is aiming to release more games in the series on a regular basis.

In a Q&A session with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, he confirmed that remakes of older Assassin's Creed games are coming, saying, "Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich." However, Guillemot clarified that the series will have more gameplay variety between entries.

While the goal is to release more Assassin's Creed games regularly, he said that they won't be the exact same experience every year. He uses the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows and Assassin's Creed Hexe as examples. "There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin's Creed Hexe, which we've announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin's Creed Shadows," he explained. The First Halo Game Is Reportedly Being Considered For PS5

The first game in the Halo series, Halo: Combat Evolved, is reportedly being considered for a release on PlayStation 5.

According to The Verge, Microsoft is working on some sort of remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved. It's reportedly part of Microsoft's multiplatform strategy, Project Latitude, and the company is considering placing it on rival platforms. PlayStation 5 is one obvious option here, but that could potentially mean Nintendo Switch as well.

If this remaster exists, however, it's also apparently not going to be announced at Microsoft's upcoming showcase on June 9. Dawntrail Takes New Jobs And Stories Where Final Fantasy XIV Has Never Been

For the first time in 11 years, the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is embarking on an entirely new era for its story arc. Dawntrail sets its sails for completely separate regions filled with cultures and histories never seen in the game's long history--you can gather as much from the intro cinematic or the several Live Letters from director and producer Naoki Yoshida where he's talked extensively about this new journey. I had the chance to play an early preview build of Dawntrail, and while there wasn't any major story content, experiencing the land of Tural itself already told so many stories.

The development team at Creative Business Unit III is digging deep into Mesoamerican inspirations, drawing from cultures of pre-colonial Central and South America. It's easily seen in the architecture of the buildings, the topography of Tural's various zones, and the names for all the locations. In the same way Endwalker drew from Indian and South Asian culture to create the Thavnair region, Dawntrail's rich, real-world influences are being reflected in nearly every aspect, and on a much larger scale.

I spent a lot of time walking the streets of Tuliyollal, the new main hub for Dawntrail. Going through the marketplace full of vendors, seeing the textiles and structures that make up the town, and watching the NPCs go through their animation sets, establishes a sense of place that has deep roots. It's not so much pulling directly from those real-world inspirations, rather a blending of them with the development team's own imagination to make something wholly unique for FFXIV, yet so familiar to those who know a bit about the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica and Latin America. Ghostface May Be Coming To Mortal Kombat 1 According To A Leak

As Mortal Kombat 1 gets closer to the end of the first Kombat Pack, more information about the second Kombat Pack has potentially been revealed. It appears that players may soon be able to play as Ghostface, the recurring villain of the Scream franchise, sometime in the near future.

The leak comes from Interloko, a well-known Mortal Kombat data miner. In their video, you can hear Mileena, who is one of the game's main characters, serving as an announcer. As the video continues, she says various names, including Ghostface.

It's also worth mentioning that Ghostface hasn't been officially announced yet. The current Kombat Pack still has one character left, Takahashi Takeda. But this leak does align with what Ed Boon posted on X/Twitter in the past. Late last year, they posted a photo that included various well-known movie slashers, such as Chucky, Leatherface, and even Ghostface, with question marks over characters that have yet to be in the game. It Looks Like The Original Octopath Traveler Is Coming To PlayStation

Octopath Traveler II, was made available on numerous platforms--including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5--when it launched in February 2023. But the first entry in Square Enix's hit RPG series, the original Octopath Traveler, still remains unavailable to PlayStation users. Fortunately, it looks like that's about to change.

Recently, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated Octopath Traveler II for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The sequel's release on Xbox is something fans of the franchise have known about since it was announced in September 2023, but the Taiwanese game-rating committee's official website also contains a surprise: The committee has rated the original Octopath Traveler for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, suggesting it will soon join its sequel on PlayStation consoles (via Gemastu).

It's important to take the news with a grain of salt, as Octopath developer Square Enix hasn't yet announced the release of Octopath Traveler for PlayStation consoles the way it announced the Xbox release last September. The Acolyte Creator Had To Fight To Get This Iconic Star Wars Line On The Show

Beyond "May the Force be with you," one of the most-quoted lines of dialogue in the Star Wars universe is "I have a bad feeling about this." Both lines are featured in the first few episodes of the new Star Wars TV show The Acolyte, but the second one showing up wasn't a given.

Team Fortress 2 Hit With Thousands Of Negative Steam Reviews Protesting Bot Issues

Team Fortress 2 is approaching the age of your typical high-school graduate, but its still-vibrant community has a lot to say about its future. Now, the game's Steam Recent Reviews rating has dropped to "Mostly Negative" following a flood of thumbs-down reviews from players who are sick of its ongoing bot issues.

These negative reviews are part of a community effort called "Fix TF2," which started on June 3. The effort's site claims that the game has been "nearly unplayable" for the past five years because its official servers are overrun by cheating bots that instant-headshot any player they encounter. The site then notes that Valve has done very little to fix these issues despite the game still making a large amount of money through microtransactions, calling its lack of effort "nothing short of appalling."

This isn't the first time that TF2 players have called for Valve to solve these bot issues. Back in 2022, the official TF2 Twitter/X account posted a message of solidarity with players: "TF2 community, we hear you," it reads in part. Taking The Acolyte Into New Star Wars Territory Was 'Freeing'

For longtime Star Wars fans, the latest Disney+ series, The Acolyte, is an exciting prospect. After all, this particular series is set in the final days of the franchise's High Republic era, bringing this period to live-action for the very first time. It's also set over 100 years before the prequel trilogy, as Anakin Skywalker is still a long way's off from being born at this point in the timeline.

For Leslye Headland, getting to explore this all new era of Star Wars was one of the most appetizing elements of the project.

Sony has announced that it will be releasing a PlayStation VR 2 PC adapter on August 7 at select retailers, including the PlayStation Direct store. The device will cost $60.

In order to use the adapter, players will also need a separately sold DisplayPort cable that's compatible with DisplayPort 1.4, as well as a Steam account. The PC also needs to meet some minimum specifications.

Don't Expect A "Just One More Thing" At Summer Game Fest Live

If you were hoping to see one last surprise at the end of Summer Game Fest Live, Geoff Keighley has some bad news for you: What you see is what you get. In a recent stream, the host acknowledged that while a last surprise is often a tradition at game showcase events, this year's SGF will not have one.

"It's not really one of those shows," Keighley explained. "Our shows don't typically have that." He noted that neither Gamescom Opening Night Live nor The Game Awards (two events that he's known for hosting) do not feature those sort of "bonus" announcements.
