Hearthstone Perils in Paradise Card Reveal: Rogue Eudora Leads A Treasure Hunt
Hearthstone's next expansion, Perils in Paradise, is launching on July 23. And while the tropical-themed expansion is mostly about kicking back and relaxing on the beach, everybody knows that when you go on vacation, you should keep a close eye on your wallet. Sure enough, the Rogue package for the upcoming expansion has big burgle synergy, with cards that reward you for exercising the old five-finger discount.
The leader of the gang is Treasure Hunter Eudora, a Rogue legendary card (with a lovely Signature variant). The 6-mana 4/5 Pirate has a Battlecry that gives you a Sidequest token, Eudora's Treasure Hunt. The Sidequest challenges you to play three cards from other classes.Gallery
To help you complete the task, Eudora has brought a couple of scurvy scalawags along with her, and a big spell that will help remove threats while you plan your heist. Sea Shill is a 3-mana 3/2 pirate that gives you a 2-mana discount on the next non-Rogue card you play. Conniving Conman is a 4-mana 4/4 pirate that lets you double up on your stolen goods by replaying the last card you played from another class. And Snatch and Grab is an 8-mana spell that removes two enemy minions--but gets cheaper and more efficient for every stolen card you've played.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Multiple Assassin's Creed Remakes In The Works, Including Potentially Black Flag
There are multiple remakes of Assassin's Creed games currently in development, and Ubisoft is aiming to release more games in the series on a regular basis.
In a Q&A session with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, he confirmed that remakes of older Assassin's Creed games are coming, saying, "Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich." However, Guillemot clarified that the series will have more gameplay variety between entries.
While the goal is to release more Assassin's Creed games regularly, he said that they won't be the exact same experience every year. He uses the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows and Assassin's Creed Hexe as examples. "There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin's Creed Hexe, which we've announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin's Creed Shadows," he explained. "We're going to surprise people, I think."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Get 27 Warhammer Novels For Only $18 For A Limited Time
Warhammer 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar are some of the coolest fictional settings out there. While both franchises started as tabletop wargames, they've expanded into video games, pen-and-paper RPGs, and more, giving fans of any medium plenty of ways to enjoy these grimdark universes. However, it's the many Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40K novels where you get the deepest exploration of both settings--but with literal hundreds of official novels out there (of varying degrees of quality and canonicity) finding a way in can be daunting. Luckily, there's a new Humble Bundle book deal that includes up to 27 Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40K novels for just $18. See bundle at Humble
The Stories From The World of Warhammer 2024 Book Bundle includes new and classic novels from Black Library, the official Warhammer book publisher, and is available in three pricing tiers. The deal starts at $1 for eight books--four set in the 40K universe and four set in the Age of Sigmar fantasy world. The inclusion of notable novels like the fan-favorite Ice Guard by Steve Lyons and Black Legion Book 1: The Talon of Horus by Aaron Dembski-Bowden makes this a great tier for those who want to ease into these universes.
Pay at least $10 and you unlock the second tier of the bundle, which adds eight more books for a total of 16. But if that's not enough eternal warfare for you, you can get the full 27-book bundle for just $18. That's $277 worth of some of the best Warhammer novels out there. While the $18 option might seem like a lot, one of the included books is Lupercal's War: A Horus Heresy Anthology, which includes over 20 short stories set during one of the most important eras of Warhammer 40K and serves as the perfect introductory point for the millennia-spanning history. The rest of the books included in the deal are listed on the bundle's Humble Store page.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The First Halo Game Is Reportedly Being Considered For PS5
The first game in the Halo series, Halo: Combat Evolved, is reportedly being considered for a release on PlayStation 5.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is working on some sort of remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved. It's reportedly part of Microsoft's multiplatform strategy, Project Latitude, and the company is considering placing it on rival platforms. PlayStation 5 is one obvious option here, but that could potentially mean Nintendo Switch as well.
If this remaster exists, however, it's also apparently not going to be announced at Microsoft's upcoming showcase on June 9. Microsoft's showcase will also reportedly feature a new entry in the Doom series called Doom: The Dark Ages, as well as a new entry in the Gears of War franchise.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Destiny 2 Prismatic Guide: Recommended Builds And How To Unlock Fragments, Aspects, Supers
Alongside a new location to explore, campaign to complete, and raid to take on, one of the key additions in Destiny 2: The Final Shape is Prismatic. This is a new subclass, of which we've only ever had five in Destiny's history, but this one is much different in that it blends together old and new options from the existing Light and Darkness subclasses to give you an interesting blend. With so many choices comes a lot of complexity, so we're here to guide you through everything there is to know about Prismatic, including how to unlock it and all of its Supers, Aspects, Fragments, and other options, as well as recommended builds as we start to wrap our heads around what's possible.Table of Contents [hide]
* How to unlock Prismatic
* How to get more Prismatic Supers, grenades, Aspects, and Fragments
How to unlock Prismatic
Unlike Strand or Stasis, Prismatic is put into your hands early in the Final Shape campaign, and it isn't taken away. You'll have unrestricted access to it, although it takes time to unlock all of its customization options (more on that below). Simply fire up the campaign, and you'll be mixing Light and Darkness like never before on your path to confronting The Witness. Part of this involves unlocking an entirely new Super and Aspect, which will also be available when using the corresponding elemental's subclass, in addition to Prismatic.
How to get more Prismatic Supers, grenades, Aspects, and Fragments
What makes Prismatic so exciting and fun are all of the options you'll eventually have at your disposal. Playing through the campaign will get you a limited selection of Supers, grenades, Aspects, and Fragments, but as you can see on the customization screen, there are more that await you.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Dawntrail Takes New Jobs And Stories Where Final Fantasy XIV Has Never Been
For the first time in 11 years, the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is embarking on an entirely new era for its story arc. Dawntrail sets its sails for completely separate regions filled with cultures and histories never seen in the game's long history--you can gather as much from the intro cinematic or the several Live Letters from director and producer Naoki Yoshida where he's talked extensively about this new journey. I had the chance to play an early preview build of Dawntrail, and while there wasn't any major story content, experiencing the land of Tural itself already told so many stories.
The development team at Creative Business Unit III is digging deep into Mesoamerican inspirations, drawing from cultures of pre-colonial Central and South America. It's easily seen in the architecture of the buildings, the topography of Tural's various zones, and the names for all the locations. In the same way Endwalker drew from Indian and South Asian culture to create the Thavnair region, Dawntrail's rich, real-world influences are being reflected in nearly every aspect, and on a much larger scale.
I spent a lot of time walking the streets of Tuliyollal, the new main hub for Dawntrail. Going through the marketplace full of vendors, seeing the textiles and structures that make up the town, and watching the NPCs go through their animation sets, establishes a sense of place that has deep roots. It's not so much pulling directly from those real-world inspirations, rather a blending of them with the development team's own imagination to make something wholly unique for FFXIV, yet so familiar to those who know a bit about the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica and Latin America. But this wouldn't have happened without the help of several groups who had the insight to help craft Tural in all its detail.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Ghostface May Be Coming To Mortal Kombat 1 According To A Leak
As Mortal Kombat 1 gets closer to the end of the first Kombat Pack, more information about the second Kombat Pack has potentially been revealed. It appears that players may soon be able to play as Ghostface, the recurring villain of the Scream franchise, sometime in the near future.
The leak comes from Interloko, a well-known Mortal Kombat data miner. In their video, you can hear Mileena, who is one of the game's main characters, serving as an announcer. As the video continues, she says various names, including Ghostface.
It's also worth mentioning that Ghostface hasn't been officially announced yet. The current Kombat Pack still has one character left, Takahashi Takeda. But this leak does align with what Ed Boon posted on X/Twitter in the past. Late last year, they posted a photo that included various well-known movie slashers, such as Chucky, Leatherface, and even Ghostface, with question marks over characters that have yet to be in the game. Based on the leak, this picture may indicate what players can expect in the future.Continue Reading at GameSpot

It Looks Like The Original Octopath Traveler Is Coming To PlayStation
Octopath Traveler II, was made available on numerous platforms--including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5--when it launched in February 2023. But the first entry in Square Enix's hit RPG series, the original Octopath Traveler, still remains unavailable to PlayStation users. Fortunately, it looks like that's about to change.
Recently, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated Octopath Traveler II for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The sequel's release on Xbox is something fans of the franchise have known about since it was announced in September 2023, but the Taiwanese game-rating committee's official website also contains a surprise: The committee has rated the original Octopath Traveler for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, suggesting it will soon join its sequel on PlayStation consoles (via Gemastu).
It's important to take the news with a grain of salt, as Octopath developer Square Enix hasn't yet announced the release of Octopath Traveler for PlayStation consoles the way it announced the Xbox release last September. But the fact that it has been rated at all is likely indicative that the PlayStation release is indeed happening.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Noted MCU Villain Jake Gyllenhaal Was Mistaken For Spider-Man And The Story Is Perfect
Actor Jake Gyllenhaal has shared a fun story of a time when he was mistaken for Spider-Man. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gyllenhaal said this happened some time ago on an airplane.
"I did have a very sweet woman on a plane, an older woman, come to me and say, 'Can I tell my son I was the plane with Spider-Man?' I was like, 'You absolutely can,'" he said.
Jake Gyllenhaal sat down on the set of his #THRCover shoot to reflect on his "Hollywood Firsts," from his first audition, his first mentor in Hollywood and more. Plus, he shares a sweet story about a woman who once thought he was #SpiderMan. pic.twitter.com/PDSoeI8MOs — The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) June 5, 2024
As it happens, Gyllenhaal actually could have played Spider-Man years ago. As the story goes, Tobey Maguire hurt himself making the movie Seabiscuit and apparently considered not coming back for Spider-Man 2. During this time of uncertainty, Sony Pictures reportedly sought out other actors who could replace him, and Gyllenhaal was among the candidates. Maguire eventually decided to come back.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Acolyte Creator Had To Fight To Get This Iconic Star Wars Line On The Show
Beyond "May the Force be with you," one of the most-quoted lines of dialogue in the Star Wars universe is "I have a bad feeling about this." Both lines are featured in the first few episodes of the new Star Wars TV show The Acolyte, but the second one showing up wasn't a given.
Series creator Leslye Headland told Entertainment Weekly that she had to fight to include this line in The Acloyte, which Yord Fandar (Charlie Barnett) says to express his uneasiness.
"That was hard to get that in," she said. "I'm going to be honest. I got a lot of feedback that I shouldn't put that in. But I just feel like when you get the opportunity to do Star Wars, you're just going to shoot your shot. And 'I have a bad feeling about this' is incredibly iconic."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Team Fortress 2 Hit With Thousands Of Negative Steam Reviews Protesting Bot Issues
Team Fortress 2 is approaching the age of your typical high-school graduate, but its still-vibrant community has a lot to say about its future. Now, the game's Steam Recent Reviews rating has dropped to "Mostly Negative" following a flood of thumbs-down reviews from players who are sick of its ongoing bot issues.
These negative reviews are part of a community effort called "Fix TF2," which started on June 3. The effort's site claims that the game has been "nearly unplayable" for the past five years because its official servers are overrun by cheating bots that instant-headshot any player they encounter. The site then notes that Valve has done very little to fix these issues despite the game still making a large amount of money through microtransactions, calling its lack of effort "nothing short of appalling."
This isn't the first time that TF2 players have called for Valve to solve these bot issues. Back in 2022, the official TF2 Twitter/X account posted a message of solidarity with players: "TF2 community, we hear you," it reads in part. "...We see how large this issue has become and are working to improve things." However, players say that little has improved in the two years since.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Taking The Acolyte Into New Star Wars Territory Was 'Freeing'
For longtime Star Wars fans, the latest Disney+ series, The Acolyte, is an exciting prospect. After all, this particular series is set in the final days of the franchise's High Republic era, bringing this period to live-action for the very first time. It's also set over 100 years before the prequel trilogy, as Anakin Skywalker is still a long way's off from being born at this point in the timeline.
For Leslye Headland, getting to explore this all new era of Star Wars was one of the most appetizing elements of the project.
"It was totally freeing. It's one of the reasons I set the show there, so that I wouldn't feel constrained," Headland explained to GameSpot. "However, it was a lot of responsibility for sure to be the first person playing in that time period."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Don't Expect A "Just One More Thing" At Summer Game Fest Live
If you were hoping to see one last surprise at the end of Summer Game Fest Live, Geoff Keighley has some bad news for you: What you see is what you get. In a recent stream, the host acknowledged that while a last surprise is often a tradition at game showcase events, this year's SGF will not have one.
"It's not really one of those shows," Keighley explained. "Our shows don't typically have that." He noted that neither Gamescom Opening Night Live nor The Game Awards (two events that he's known for hosting) do not feature those sort of "bonus" announcements. However, he did say that the organizers put "a lot of thought" into the order of the reveals and trailers, from the first game to the last game.
He then cited a humorous example, saying that those who expect Gabe Newell to walk out at the end and announce Half-Life 3 will be disappointed. "It'd be cool, but it's not happening on this show," he said.Continue Reading at GameSpot
