CBS Studios has unveiled a first-look teaser image for the upcoming animated series based on the wildly popular game Among Us. The show is a collaboration between CBS Eye Animation Productions and Innersloth, the independent game studio behind the game.

The game's official accounts shared the below teaser image across its social media platforms, offering a glimpse into the animated adaptation. Owen Dennis, under his CBS Studios deal, will serve as the creator and executive producer. The series mirrors the game's premise, where crew members face the challenge of identifying an alien shapeshifter among them, wreaking havoc on the spaceship.

Xbox Head Is Not Happy With Apple's New App Store Policy

The European Union recently passed a new tech regulation called the Digital Markets Act (DMA), targeting digital "gatekeepers"--like Apple--and requiring them to allow third-party app stores, among other things. In complying with the new regulations, Apple has introduced even more fees, and the developers who publish apps on iOS aren't happy about it.

Xbox's Sarah Bond is the latest to comment on the fee structure, quoting a tweet from Spotify head Daniel Ek where he claims the new fees are simply a way of forcing developers to stick with the status quo, as picked up by The Verge.

On Twitter, Lilith.zip said that Sony contacted her saying that she needs to make changes to her fan game, a Bloodborne-style kart-racing game. "Long story short I need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart, which we will do. But that requires a short delay," she explains. "Don't worry, the game is still coming out! It'll just look slightly different."

Lilith also clarifies that she expected this to happen and will let people know as soon as possible when a new release date is figured out. It was supposed to be launched on January 31. The JLab Nightfall features a suspended headband design similar to one of our favorite headset lines, the SteelSeries' Arctis Nova series. The Nighfall's headband is adjustable and reversible, with a multi-colored rainbow gradient on one side, and plain black on the other. Both go well with the rest of the headset's matte black look.

As for the internal hardware, there is a 50mm driver in each of the over-ear cushioned earcups, and it sports a rotating near-field directional mic that can be quick-muted by simply flipping it up (aligns flush against the earcup). While there's no active noise canceling, that's not a surprising omission for a $40 headset, and the over-ear design will offer at least some passive noise isolation. On the plus side, it uses a single 3.5mm input, so you can use the headset on PS4/5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, smartphone, PC, or anything else with an aux audio port.

Fortnite's Item Shop Won't Stop Being Weird

Fortnite has long been that rare game where the microtransactions are actually part of the appeal, and so fans have been pretty baffled lately by the messy state of the game's Item Shop. The selection of skins, emotes and other cosmetics has been pretty poor recently, and also the shop seems quite buggy. Combined with the awful new locker UI introduced in Chapter 5, Fortnite's cosmetic game is really struggling in some surprising ways.

The Shop has particularly been a bit of a nightmare this week. On Monday, the Skull Trooper skin was added to the shop in two separate tabs, and a potentially related issue forced Epic to take down the entire store aside from the packs you buy with real currency through the platform you're playing on. On Tuesday morning after this week's patch, a bunch of the content creator Icon skins were supposed to be available to buy, but that section of the shop was hidden because their announced Lego styles weren't visible. Tuesday night then brought us the latest example of a Festival track hitting the shop a day or more before it was supposed to--something that has happened repeatedly since Fortnite Festival launched in December. Epic dealt with this by rearranging that section of the shop and removing a bunch of jam tracks--and then also by accidentally (and admittedly humorously) plugging in the Valentines-themed Heartbreaker skin where the song Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar was supposed to go.

Epic also didn't release any new Winterfest-themed cosmetics in the item shop until after Winterfest ended, and this week's patch added a Winterfest Wish emote and a 2023-specific New Year's emote to the game files for unknown reasons--even if they'd somehow been forgotten during the previous updates, why add them back in now?Continue Reading at GameSpot

GTA Online Brings Back Peyote, Lets You Transform Into A Cow

GTA Online will now let you become a wildlife photographer and get so high you transform.

Animals were recently added to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions of GTA Online (they've been in the single player since launch). Now you can take photos of them to earn in-game rewards. In a new Daily Collectable called Wildlife Photography, you can take pictures of up to three different animals. Despite the name, animals included can be either domesticated or wild. Taking one picture for the challenge will unlock the ability to purchase the new Declasse Park Ranger. Taking 10 photo will unlock the vehicle's trade price.

In other animal news, you can find Peyote plants out in the wilds. Ingesting them will cause you to change shape into an animal like a deer or a cow. Heroes Of The Storm Is, Sort Of, Receiving New Content In The Form Of A Starcraft 2 Mod

Active development on Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's MOBA starring heroes and villains from across its iconic game franchises, ended in 2022, but one group of dedicated fans is bringing the game back in a big way.

It's called Resurgence of the Storm, and it's a free mod for Blizzard's own Starcraft 2, albeit one that completely transforms the RTS into something that is near indistinguishable from the official Blizzard-made version of Heroes of the Storm. Unlike Heroes of the Storm, which is still playable but no longer receives new content (but does occasionally receive some minor balance updates and bug fixes), Resurgence of the Storm features never-before-seen heroes, updated talents and abilities for some existing heroes, and even a content roadmap. The mod has been in development for over four years and is now officially available to the public.

The mod currently features 15 heroes to play as, some that will be familiar to Heroes of the Storm players and some that are entirely new. Both of the entirely new heroes currently available hail from Starcraft 2: Selendis, a melee assassin, and Talandar, a tanky bruiser. Of all the game's existing heroes, Arthas has perhaps received the most changes, with a new talent tree, enhanced abilities, and even a new heroic ability. If you're on Xbox, however, be warned: Recording the scene could get you banned from Xbox Live, as one member of the game's Reddit community has reported.

Reddit user u/Daddy_Magic shared his plight on the BG3 forum, as they said they recorded three separate videos of a particular tryst in the player character's camp. In 2023, The Best Games Put My Decisions First

As someone who has been playing games for as long as my pudgy little toddler hands could hold a Super Nintendo controller, it's been interesting for me to see how my taste in games has changed over the years. What started out as an intense love for mascot platformers eventually turned into a deep appreciation for simulation games. Over time, this passion turned to RPGs, and then action-adventure games, often with RPG elements and condensed, purposeful worlds. Yet despite all their differences, there's a thread through them all that this year's new releases made me aware of--and I'm now compelled to tug at it.

Recently, GameSpot named Baldur's Gate 3 its game of the year--a choice I heavily advocated for. During our deliberations, I told my colleagues, "I don't think it's the most cinematic game this year, or the most 'artistic,' but I do think it is the best game." My second favorite game of 2023 was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which, once again, I can admit wasn't as artistic as something like Alan Wake 2, and lacked the polish and sheer spectacle of Final Fantasy XVI, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, or Star Wars Jedi: Survivor--though I will argue that descending into the depths was one of the coolest gaming moments of the past year. So, I then began to wonder, "What in my eyes made for a great game?" And while novel concepts, strong mechanics, fascinating characters, and interesting art are all up there, what it really came down to--and what I think some of 2023's top tiles did best--is give me a choice.

I've always loved decision-based games, whether the decision I'm making is my party composition, to build a rollercoaster that will send my park-goers to their doom, or to romance Thane yet again in Mass Effect 2. Fortunately for me, many games allow players a sense of choice and freedom, and more of these games are being made each and every day. But in a year of mind-blowing games, Baldur's Gate 3 and Tears of the Kingdom won my heart because of how they elevated what "freedom" in a game entails.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Mickey Mouse Must Be Exterminated In New Horror Game Infestation 88

The earliest version of Mickey Mouse is now in public domain as of January 1, 2024, and as many guessed, a game developer has announced its own twist on the character in a spooky setting.

Nightmare Forge Games has announced Infestation 88, an episodic 1-4 player co-op survival horror game set in 1988. You play as an exterminator called upon to rid dwellings of "twisted versions of classic characters and urban legends." And yes, Mickey Mouse is one of those characters. The game is set to release later this year on Steam as an Early Access title.

The version of Mickey Mouse that went into public domain today, January 1, is the character's earliest appearance, dating back to 1928's Steamboat Willie. Newer versions of the character remain under Disney's control. Legal experts expect Disney to remain highly protective of its brand and Mickey Mouse specifically, so it'll be interesting to see what happens in the days, weeks, and months ahead as inevitably more and more Mickey-related projects come to light due to the public domain status of Steamboat Willie.Continue Reading at GameSpot
