Best Summer Crops In Stardew Valley

Growing and harvesting crops is one of the best ways to make money in Stardew Valley and the Summer season has a few different great options to maximize your profits. Summer has multiple standout options for making money, but it also has a few crops that really aren't worth growing due to low profits.

Best Summer crops

Melons, blueberries, and red cabbage are excellent summer crops.

The best crops to grow in Summer for profit are blueberries, melons, starfruit, and red cabbage. Starfruit seeds are only profitable if bought from the Oasis shop or made from a seed maker and red cabbage isn't available at Pierre's until Year 2. The absolute best option is the blueberries, since the plants continue to reproduce throughout the season, so you don't have to buy more seeds. Each plant gives multiple blueberries each harvest, drastically increasing the crop's overall value.

While it can be tempting to only focus on the most profitable crops, if you are going down the community center path, you will need a variety of crops to complete the bundles needed to unlock the Greenhouse.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Ironheart's First Clips Premiere At D23

Ever since Disney announced plans to cut back on the number of Marvel shows heading to Disney+, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spin-off series, Ironheart, has been kind of on the backburner. But at D23, Marvel finally debuted some new footage of Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams in her own show.

Marvel hasn't dropped any of the Ironheart clips online yet, but we can tell you that Riri is back at MIT, and she no longer has the same resources that she had in Wakanda Forever. Community's Jim Rash reappears as the Dean of MIT from Captain America: Civil War, and it seems like Riri may be expelled from the school.

More than anything else, Riri wants to rebuild her Ironheart armor. That's where Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins comes in. Parker may not be The Hood yet, but he's leading Riri down a dark path as they steal what she needs for the suit. The early look at her new armor seems more handmade than the suit she built in Wakanda. Riri also seems to realize that what she's doing is wrong, but she still does it anyway.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The PS5 Is Getting An Officially Licensed Wireless Racing Wheel

Though wireless game controllers have been the norm for many years now, some specialty controllers like racing wheels haven't cut the cord. But there's at least one upcoming racing wheel that is giving wireless connectivity a try. Hori is releasing a new wireless edition of its Apex Racing Wheel, which initially released as a wired wheel in 2022 for $120. The wireless Hori Apex is officially licensed by Sony and is compatible with PS5, PS4, and PC. Amazon is taking preorders for the $170 Hori Wireless Apex Racing Wheel ahead of its October 24 release.

We dug around and couldn't find any other wireless racing wheels for modern platforms from major brands, so while the Hori Apex may not be the first of this generation, it is the first officially licensed wireless wheel for PlayStation 5.

Hori Apex Wireless Racing Wheel

$170

Hori says the Apex offers up to 10 hours of battery life from a full charge. If you do need to plug it in, it comes with 6.6ft charging cable so you can keep racing while you refuel the controller. For wireless connectivity, it uses a dongle that plugs directly into your PlayStation or PC, and it has an effective range of up to 32 feet.

Other features include paddle shifters to make shifting easier, full-size foot pedals, 270-degree rotation, and clamps to secure it to your table or desk. It also has regular inputs, including PlayStation face buttons, D-pad, and four additional face buttons instead of traditional triggers and shoulder buttons.

Despite releasing over two years ago, the wired Hori Apex remains one of the most popular entry-level racing wheels for PlayStation. It currently holds a 4.3/5 user average, based on over 3,000 reviews, on Amazon. Preorder at Amazon

If you are looking for a more serious piece of kit, there are some solid (wired) options out there. Currently on sale at Amazon for $230 (was $300), the Logitech G29 offers arguably the best performance for the price. It's currently on sale for $230 (was $300). Also compatible with PC, PS5, and PS4, the G29 has a premium design with durable materials and features built-in force feedback for added realism. The 900-degree wheel rotation is also one of its best features, as it allows you to feel like you're really swinging your digital vehicle around tight corners.Continue Reading at GameSpot

BioWare Explains Why Dragon Age: The Veilguard Won't Give You Much Control Over Companions In Combat

The Fall 2024 launch of BioWare's long-awaited fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is only a few months away, and the game is bringing a number of changes to the Dragon Age formula--including a reduction in the level of control players have over companions in combat. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, BioWare explained the reasoning behind its decision to rework The Veilguard's companion combat system.

"[The Veilguard] is a much higher actions-per-minute game," game director Corinne Busche explained. "It is more technically demanding on the player. So when we tried allowing you full control of your companions as well, what we've found is it wasn't actually adding to the experience. In fact, in some ways it was detrimental, given the demanding nature of just controlling your own character."

But the reasons behind the decision to limit player control of companions goes deeper than technical logistics. BioWare felt that letting players have full control of companions in combat was problematic from a role-playing perspective as well.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Deadpool & Wolverine Could Have Featured Robert Downey Jr. And All The Avengers

Deadpool & Wolverine has a lot of cameos, but the writers were not able to get every actor they wanted to come in to play a small role in the big film. Actor Robert Downey Jr. was originally eyed to come back to play Tony Stark/Iron Man in the film, while a grander idea was to bring in the entire Avengers squad, but it ultimately didn't work out. Spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine follow below.

Writer Paul Wernick told IndieWire that the team wrote a scene featuring Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan and Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Co-writer Rhett Reese said Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds read the scene with Favreau and Downey Jr., but little did they know that Downey Jr. was preparing to return to the MCU as a totally different character, Doctor Doom, for the movie Avengers: Doomsday.

Wernick said the Deadpool & Wolverine team didn't know about Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom role when they were coming up with ideas for how to bring the actor into the Deadpool film.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Take-Two Boss Says Call Of Duty On Game Pass Will Help Drive Memberships "For A Period Of Time"

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick believes putting major "frontline" titles on a subscription service like Game Pass will no doubt help drive memberships, though he suggested this may only work for so long. In a new interview, Zelnick said Microsoft's decision to put Black Ops 6 on Game Pass on day one "won't affect" any decisions that Take-Two makes about its own games.

And why is that? "Because our decisions are rational," he told GI.biz.

Zelnick added: "I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day-and-date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Dev Addresses The Game Leaving Xbox Game Pass

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (TCM) is approaching its first anniversary. When it launched on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms on August 18 last year, it also landed in Xbox Game Pass. That advantageous position helped the game climb to over 4 million players in its first month.

With the game soon exiting Game Pass, the TCM community has been… let's say gloomy about it on social media. Some suggest the game can't survive without the players coming from Xbox's subscription service, and others, unaware of how Game Pass deals work, wonder why the game is leaving the service at all.

Wes Keltner--CEO, designer, and director at Gun Media--provided a statement to GameSpot regarding TCM's time in Game Pass, as well as its forthcoming departure, in an effort to address the concerned fans. He also suggested the game may one day return to the subscription library, as some games have in the past.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Warner Bros. Games Wants To Give Other Studios A Chance On Its Franchises

Warner Bros. Games has revealed plans to license its IP out, given the high interest from third-party developers, as well as the success of games like Hogwarts Legacy.

On a recent investors call, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said, "We have 11 studios here, and we have a lot of IP. And there's also a lot of interest among others in coming to take advantage of some of that IP for gaming, which we're looking at."

He continued, "Because as [president of global streaming and games JB Perrette] said, we need to get bigger, and the IP that we own and the value that it has in the gaming space is something we're looking to take advantage of." Zaslav explained that the success of Hogwarts Legacy was because players were able to immerse themselves into the world, and now Zaslav wants to make video games more of a priority.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Destiny 2's New Patch Has Made The Exotic Class-Item Drop Rate Worse

A new patch went live for Destiny 2 this week, and alongside the usual balance changes, a "generous" buff to the drop rate of Exotic class items had fans excited. According to Bungie, the chances for acquiring Exotic class items from chests found in the Overthrow activity have been adjusted. Higher-tiered chests were supposed to increase drop chances, but feedback from the Destiny 2 community has revealed that the drop rates have instead decreased significantly.

Once players have completed the Dual Destiny Exotic mission for the first time, Exotic class items typically drop after around three Overthrow runs. Depending on the roll, these can be extremely powerful pieces of armor to equip if you build around them, but the two Exotic perks available on them are randomized, hence the grind to get a desired combination.

Several Destiny 2 players have reported needing to do at least five runs of Overthrow before an Exotic class item drops, and Bungie has confirmed that it has "identified an issue" impacting the drop rates.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Disney Plus And Company's Other Streaming Services No Longer Losing Money

The Walt Disney Company announced on its August 7 investor call that its direct-to-consumer business, including Disney+ and Hulu, reported a quarterly operating loss of $19 million. That is an exponentially lower sum than the $505 million loss the previous year. In the third quarter earnings released, Disney's streaming business turned profitable for the first time, generating $47 million across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Plus.

Disney CEO Bob Iger highlighted the company's strong quarter, achieving profitability in the streaming business. The success was attributed to the 2015 Pixar film Inside Out, which drove 1.3 million Disney+ sign-ups, with the sequel becoming the top-grossing animated film globally.

"This was a strong quarter for Disney, driven by excellent results in our Entertainment segment both at the box office and in DTC, as we achieved profitability across our combined streaming businesses for the first time and a quarter ahead of our previous guidance," Iger said in a statement.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Callisto Protocol Shipped Too Early At Publisher's Insistence, Director Says

The Callisto Protocol director Glen Schofield claimed that the game was forced to ship early due to the Striking Distance Studios' parent company, Krafton, and its insistance. As a result, development was impacted and content was cut in order to meet deadlines.

In an interview with Dan Allen Gaming, Schofield said that Krafton originally let Striking Distance Studios "put whatever they wanted" into The Callisto Protocol and promised more time to work on it. During the 2021 holiday period, Schofield formulated more ideas for the game, but afterward, Krafton suddenly wanted it to ship by December.

Schofield said that he wanted three and a half more months to work on the game, which would have put its release date into 2023. Ironically, the December 2022 deadline seemingly ended up costing Krafton more resources.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Arkane Founder Says His Studio's Next Game Will Make Dishonored And Prey Fans Happy

WolfEye Studios, a developer founded and largely comprised of former Arkane employees, is working on its sophomore effort. In a recent tweet, co-founder Raphaël Colantonio revealed that WolfEye's next game will likely excite fans of Dishonored and Prey.

"We’ll reveal a bit more about our next game in a few days," wrote Colantonio. "Fans of the previous 1st person games I was involved with (Dishonored and Prey) will be happy."

A few months ago, WolfEye Studios was pitching its next game at GDC 2024, and the studio provided a small tease: it's a retro sci-fi RPG. This might be as close as we'll get to a new Dishonored or Prey kind of game from the folks who made them, as Arkane Austin was shut down earlier this year. However, a Dishonored 3 could be possible in the future, as it appeared in an old release schedule document during the FTC trial for the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard merger.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Constantine 2 Producer Explains Why The Character Still Resonates With Fans

John Constantine was a C-tier DC Comics for years, even though his comic book series became one of the company's longest-running titles, ending after 300 issues. The Keanu Reeves 2005 vehicle reimagined John as an American with a different look, but the character remained intact. The film also includes other arcane characters from DC like Papa Midnite and maybe the best portrayal of the Devil by Peter Stormare.

Almost 20 later, even though fans think it's not a perfect adaptation, the film has collected a cult following and is finally getting a sequel. While details are still loose about any sort of plot, and Keanu returning, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has an idea of why this movie remains popular. While speaking to GameSpot at San Diego Comic-Con about his next film, Transformers One, the conversation turned to why Constantine still clicks.

"I think Constantine as a character is why people care," he told GameSpot at Comic-Con. "And Keanu was the perfect fit. So I think that mythology, you know, it has a bit of a tongue-in-cheek sort of cynicism that's really fun. And we don't really do it that often in movies, so I think it's one of the reasons why it really stood out, because it has a different attitude. Sure, it has an adventure and extraordinary things happen, like a lot of big movies, but it has a disaffected hero. I and we play with that concept."Continue Reading at GameSpot

Two iconic and popular modern video game horror franchises are finally crossing over: Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy's. However, the collaboration won't arrive until Summer 2025, so fans will be waiting for a while.

The Dead by Daylight Twitter account posted the announcement but didn't provide any other details about what the crossover would entail--just the Summer 2025 release window. How To Make A Fence In Minecraft

Aside from a basic front door, one of the best ways to protect your base or stop mobs from going anywhere is with a fence. The fence in Minecraft is quite powerful, as you can't hop over it while standing on the ground, unlike many other blocks. To see how to craft a fence and the best way to use it, read the guide below.

Making a Fence in Minecraft

A fence is an extremely simple item to make once you know the recipe, as it only requires two basic resources to craft. You can see the crafting recipe for a basic fence below:

* At a crafting table, place two Sticks in the middle and bottom middle boxes
* Then, place four of the same wood Planks in the four boxes that border the Sticks

The crafting recipe for a fence in Minecraft

There aren't any other items that are more easily acquired than Sticks and Planks. You can gather Planks by chopping down logs and placing them in a single box at a crafting table. Then, you're able to use those Planks to make Sticks by placing two of them on top of one another at a crafting table. You now have all the resources required for a fence. Diablo 4 Has (Terrible) Secret Item Nobody Wants To Use

Diablo 4 secret-hunters have done it again, this time discovering how to acquire a secret Unique item no player on Earth will actually want to use.

The ring, ominously named the Ring of Misfortune, has been known to Diablo 4 dataminers for some time now, but what wasn't clear was how to actually obtain it in-game. Reddit user Sowhatsthecatch, who first posted about the discovery, says some of the requirements for obtaining the item are still "a little shaky," but it does seem to require a group of players to be under the effects of a Greed Shrine.

Sowhatsthecatch (who credits members of the Not Finding A Cow Level Discord, Discord users Jimpen, Tweaked, Teire, and Raffi1337, as well as Reddit user nova_sgx for a video breakdown of the secret), further explains how to obtain the ring in their post. A group of five players (each playing a different class) must first each obtain the Lucky Coin item by looting a specific corpse while under the effect of a Greed Shrine. From there, each player tosses their Lucky Coin into the wishing well in Scosglen, after which they are rewarded with the "Well-Wisher" title and the secret Unique item.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Hugh Jackman Knocked Out Of Guiness World Record Book By Deadpool And Wolverine Co-star

Deadpool and Wolverine is making serious money at the box office and Marvel has been going hard on promotion, which makes sense it's its only feature released this year. Apex Legends Devs On Season 22's New Map, Dual-Wielding Pistols, And Controversial New Battle Pass

Apex Legends Season 22: Shockwave is introducing loads of gameplay changes and new additions to Respawn's iconic battle royale. From a new battle pass (well, two new battle passes, technically) to a new map--and even a new way to wield everyone's least-favorite weapons--the upcoming season will have plenty of content to keep players entertained. But behind every new feature added to the game is a story, so GameSpot spoke to Respawn's Apex Legends development team to learn more about Shockwave's creation.

Speaking to world director Ed Agostini, lead weapons designer Eric Canavese, design director and director of player investment Chris "C4" Cleroux, game designer John Larson, associate design director Josh Mohan, and senior design director Evan Nikolich, GameSpot got a behind-the-scenes look at some of the biggest game-changers set to hit Apex when Season 22: Shockwave goes live on Tuesday, August 6.

One of the most shocking features unveiled in the Shockwave's gameplay trailer was the new "akimbo" pistol mechanic, which allows players to dual-wield a pair of P2020s or a pair of Mozambiques. These two weapons are easily some of the weakest in the game, and players usually abandon them in favor of a stronger weapon as soon as they find one. GameSpot was eager to hear the story behind the akimbo pistols, and was surprised to learn that the dual-wielding feature was originally used in the testing process for a new (currently unreleased) weapon.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Grab Up To 18 Games For Less Than $3 Each With Fanatical's August Platinum Bundle

Fanatical's build-your-own-bundles often bring some great games and hidden gems to light, and this month's Platinum Collection is the perfect example. The lineup includes four games that have never been in a Fanatical bundle before, and seven games that have never been in bundles before period. Like other Build Your Own deals from Fanatical, the Platinum Collection lets you select from a pool of PC games to create your own bundle, and the savings get better as you add more games. The bundle starts at three games for $3.33 each ($10 total). Add five games and you'll pay $3 each, and if you select seven or more games for your Platinum collection, you pay just $2.86 each. If you grab all 18 titles, you'll only pay $51.41 for the lot. See bundle at Fanatical

There are a few standouts among Fanatical's picks for this bundle, with the most notable being DMC: Devil May Cry. The retelling of the original Devil May Cry updates the PlayStation 2 original with a contemporary setting and cleaned-up combat, while still retaining what's great about the franchise: ridiculous, over-the-top demon-slaying action.

You can also snag Trover Saves the Universe, a goofy title from Squanch Games with humor akin to the likes of Rick and Morty so. And speaking of games inspired by TV, there's the Cobra Kai Collection, which packs two side-scrolling brawlers that draw from the Netflix series that updates the Karate Kid franchise (and is excellent, by the way).Continue Reading at GameSpot

Another Silent Hill Game Reportedly In Development At Konami

There's another Silent Hill game reportedly in development, this time being worked on internally over at Konami. After years of the Silent Hill series being dormant, Konami recently let other third-party studios tackle it. However, it looks like Konami will still continue to make its own Silent Hill games.

According to insider Dusk Golem, Konami still has a couple other unannounced projects in the works, including a new Silent Hill game. However, they didn't provide any other information, such as whether it'd be another remake.

Konami is committed to releasing new Silent Hill games after a strong Q1 2024 performance, with the Silent Hill 2 remake launching later this year. Silent Hill Townfall and Silent Hill F are still in development with no official release window announced yet. There's not much information about former, but the latter is the nineth mainline entry in the series.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Nintendo Switch Closing In On PS2's Sales Record

Nintendo's latest earnings report has arrived, and while Switch sales were down dramatically, the console is now even closer to reaching the PS2's high watermark of an estimated 155 million units sold. Through the quarter that ended on June 30, Switch sales stand at 143.42 million units.

Nintendo sold 2.1 million Switch consoles in the past quarter, which was down significantly from the 3.91 million it sold during the same period last year. Nintendo said the downturn can be attributed to a difficult comparison. Indeed, during the same period last year, Switch sales benefitted from the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Nintendo said sales during the same quarter last year were "extremely high" due to those factors. For this year, however, "there were no such special factors in the first quarter of this fiscal year, and with Nintendo Switch now in its eighth year since launch, unit sales of both hardware and software decreased significantly year-on-year," Nintendo said.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Until Dawn's Peter Stormare Will Reprise His Role In The Movie

Earlier this year, Sony Pictures announced the upcoming film adaptation of the Until Dawn video game. Now, Peter Stormare, one of the stars of the horror video game, is confirmed to reprise his role in the movie.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Stormare will once again play Dr. Hill, a therapist who makes increasingly unsettling appearances in the game. This casting decision suggests that the movie's script will remain close to the source material. For that reason alone, it's too much of a spoiler to say how and why Dr. Hill is a part of the story. But the primary focus is on a group of friends who reunite one year after a tragedy for a vacation in the mountains that soon goes horribly wrong.

Maia Mitchell and Belmont Cameli have also joined the cast in currently undisclosed roles. In June, Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion were the first performers lined up for the movie. The video game's cast included Oscar-winner Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and Brett Dalton, among others. So far, Stormare is the only actor from the game confirmed for the film.Continue Reading at GameSpot

The Next Destiny Game, Codenamed Payback, Has Reportedly Been Cancelled

The next Destiny game, codenamed Payback, was reportedly canceled a while ago, and it looks like Sony will be supporting Destiny 2 for the near future.

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Destiny developer Bungie was reportedly working on Payback, which was a spin-off. However, the project was reportedly canceled a while ago and only "very early work" was done on it. Schreier also clarified that a "Destiny 3" was not canceled because it was never in development anyway.

Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb said on Game Mess Mornings that reportedly Bungie referred to Payback as "the next Destiny" and not Destiny 3, but it was indefinitely shelved. "Either way, let's be clear, a 'Destiny 3' or 'next Destiny' is just not the thing that they are going to be coming out of this looking toward let alone working on in any real way," he explained.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Jamie Lee Curtis Apologizes For Criticizing MCU - "I Will Do Better"

Veteran actor Jamie Lee Curtis has apologized for comments she made about Marvel, saying what she said was "stupid." For anyone just catching up, Curtis was recently asked if she knew which "phase" the MCU was currently in, and she said, "bad."

Curtis has now tried to distance herself from those comments, saying on Instagram that she's going to stop criticizing other creators and will be more selective with her media appearances in the future.

"If I'm a leader, then a leader shouldn't talk shit about other collaborative art form creators. My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better," she said. "I've reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud-slinging sandbox of competition nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content."Continue Reading at GameSpot

NZXT Now Lets You Rent A Gaming PC

There are several advantages to having a gaming PC, but the biggest barrier to entry is arguably the price. Anyone interested in Flex can choose from three subscription models, and each prebuilt PC is equipped with a 40-series Nvidia GPU. The most affordable plan starts at $59 a month for a PC with an Intel Core i5 CPU and an Nvidia RTX 4060, $119 amonth for a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and RTX 4070, and $169 a month for a PC with a Core i7-13700KG and a RTX 4070 Ti Super.Continue Reading at GameSpot

In Its Weirdest Crossover Yet, Pinball FX Is Getting Goat Simulator And The Princess Bride Tables

Pinball FX developer Zen Studios has announced two new themed tables arriving in the game on August 29, inspired by The Princess Bride and Goat Simulator. Based on the classic 1987 film, The Princess Bride pinball table has several features that'll let players interact with characters from the fantasy movie, like matching Vizzini in a battle of wits and freeing Westley from a deathtrap by shooting a pinball through marked lanes. If you're feeling lucky--or you're prepared to die--you can even challenge Inigo Montoya to a duel.

For the Goat Simulator table, things get weird with this crossover as it has headbutting bumpers, a big red button that can be triggered to start a nuclear apocalypse, a chance to stop an alien invasion, and an opportunity chance to impress the judges on an episode of Farmer's Got Talent. Like the Goat Simulator games developed by Coffee Stain North, this one is all about causing as much chaos as possible in each run.Continue Reading at GameSpot
